Senior Outfitting Engineer

A leading shipbuilder in Northwest Germany is looking for a Senior Outfitting Engineer to support an exciting newbuild research vessel project. This is a hands-on senior engineering position for someone with strong shipbuilding experience who can join the project at short notice.

Tasks

As a Senior Outfitting Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical preparation and coordination of outfitting packages for the vessel. You will work closely with the Project Manager, suppliers, subcontractors and other engineering disciplines to make sure the right technical solutions are selected and ready for implementation.

Your technical expertise will help the Project Manager make informed decisions and keep the project moving according to schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare technical specifications for ship outfitting equipment.
• Work with equipment such as doors, insulation, cranes and other outfitting systems.
• Evaluate suppliers and support vendor selection.
• Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors.
• Review technical proposals and vendor documentation.
• Prepare technical information and recommendations for Project Manager approval.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and resolve technical issues.
• Support the project through engineering, procurement and execution.

Job requirements

• Relevant engineering experience within shipbuilding or the maritime industry.
• Strong experience with ship outfitting equipment and systems.
• Experience preparing technical specifications.
• Experience with vendor selection and subcontractor management.
• Able to work independently and provide clear technical recommendations.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• German language skills are an advantage.
