THE ROLE

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to own the electrical design behind the traffic control products that cities, DOTs, and contractors across the Southeast rely on every day. If you're the kind of person who'd rather see your work show up at a real intersection than buried in a spec that never ships, you'll fit right in. You'll sit at the crossroads of engineering, sales, and production — owning the electrical design, solving the hard technical problems, and making sure what we build clears agency review.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT

Your designs won't disappear into a drawing set. This is a hands-on design role based in our Tampa facility: you'll engineer the product, then walk out to the floor where the people who build it turn your schematics into hardware that goes out on public roads across the Southeast. Because we're family-owned, you'll have direct access to the people making decisions, good ideas move fast, and your work goes from schematic to production without ten layers of bureaucracy — all on a four-day schedule, Monday through Thursday, 10-hour days, with real Fridays off.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Design electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and schematics for our traffic control products — signal cabinets, detection systems, and ITS hardware
• Read and interpret DOT specifications and bid documents (NEMA, MUTCD, NEC, and state DOT standards) so what we build passes review the first time
• Back up the sales and estimating teams on RFP reviews and customer submittals
• Choose the right components and vendors, balancing performance, cost, and compliance
• Troubleshoot product and application issues for customers, contractors, and DOT personnel — primarily from the office, with occasional site involvement
• Put together the technical documentation and submittal packages agencies need to approve our work

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• A B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Typically 5+ years of professional electrical engineering experience, including demonstrated design of systems or products that have actually been built, deployed, or put into service
• Hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical
• A working command of the NEC, plus familiarity with NEMA standards
• The ability to produce and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Strong communication skills — you'll be talking to customers and agencies, not just the team down the hall

BONUS POINTS

• Experience in transportation, traffic control, or ITS
• Familiarity with FDOT, TDOT, GDOT, or other state DOT specs and submittal processes
• Working knowledge of the MUTCD or other traffic control standards
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active pursuit of one
• Hands-on work with traffic signal systems, cabinets, or detection technologies
• Fluent Spanish
