PE Global is currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join our engineering client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the rate for this role is £31.50 p/hour PAYE or £42.75 p/hour Umbrella.


Key Responsibilities


  • Support the development of electrical system requirements and technical specifications.
  • Contribute to electrical architecture development and system integration activities.
  • Support component selection and technical evaluation of electrical subsystems.
  • Develop validation plans, test procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Validate complete machine electrical systems, including HV and LV architectures, controls integration and power distribution systems.
  • Perform hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting, fault finding and debugging activities.
  • Use CAN-based diagnostic tools to investigate electrical and system issues.
  • Support machine build activities and resolve electrical integration issues.
  • Review electrical safety, compliance and relevant engineering standards.
  • Work closely with controls, software, mechanical and validation engineers throughout the development cycle.
  • Document technical decisions, test results and engineering recommendations.


Requirements


  • Experience developing and integrating electrical systems from requirements and component selection through to validation and issue resolution.
  • Hands-on experience working safely with both LV and HV electrical systems.
  • Experience with commissioning, debugging and fault finding using CAN tools.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system architecture and integration principles.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards, electrical safety requirements and compliance processes.
  • Experience within automotive, off-highway, heavy-duty equipment, industrial, aerospace, rail or similar industries.
  • Experience defining requirements and supporting technical decision-making.
  • Experience with root-cause investigation and technical problem solving.
  • Familiarity with CAN-based systems, controls integration and machine communications.
  • Experience using measurement, diagnostic or data acquisition equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • A relevant engineering degree or qualification is desirable.

  • Location: Peterborough
  • Contract: Initial 12 months, with potential to extend
  • Start date: 1st October
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Fully onsite, 5 days per week
  • Travel: Approximately 25% may be required
  • Team: Approximately 10 people, including permanent employees and agency contractors
  • Interview: Approximately 1 hour, with a technical and STAR-based format; potentially F2F with a follow-up F2F
