Role overview
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented R&D Mechanical Engineer to join our global engineering team. The role focuses on 3D CAD modelling, 2D technical drawings, technical documentation, product data quality and support for reusable components, standard parts and accessories used in complex mechanical products such as transformers, power products, industrial equipment, automation systems, home appliances or machinery.
Key responsibilities
- Design and create 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings for standard components, accessories and reusable engineering parts.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, CAD assemblies, product structures and engineering data in PLM/PDM systems.
- Support product development, design reviews, release of parts, engineering changes and implementation of new or modified components.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, procurement, supply chain and supplier teams to ensure technical feasibility and data consistency.
- Contribute to data quality, classification, attribute management and standardization of reusable components in the engineering repository.
- Support factories and business users in correct selection, implementation and use of standard parts and accessories.
- Participate in migration, cleansing and harmonization of legacy engineering data, drawings, specifications and CAD/PLM records.
- Apply engineering standards, GD&T, tolerance analysis and best practices for mechanical design and documentation.
Required qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Materials Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience in 3D CAD modelling and 2D technical documentation using PTC Creo or similar CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor, AutoCAD or NX.
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, SAP PLM, 3DX or equivalent.
- Good understanding of mechanical design, product development, technical documentation and engineering change/release processes.
- Ability to work with structured product data, CAD structures, specifications, engineering attributes and data quality topics.
