Job Description
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, development, and technical support of wind turbine gearbox components and assemblies — from requirements definition through to validation and field support.
- Define and evaluate gearbox design requirements in alignment with system-level specifications and customer expectations.
- Perform engineering calculations and design verification activities to confirm mechanical performance, reliability, and durability.
- Manage gearbox integration into the wind turbine power train (PT), ensuring interface compatibility across engineering disciplines.
- Partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams — including systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, and service — to resolve technical issues and drive design execution.
- Conduct root cause analysis on technical and field issues, implementing corrective actions that deliver lasting improvements to reliability and cost-effectiveness.
Required
- Significant experience in mechanical design and development of complex rotating equipment or gearboxes.
- A formal education and subsequent Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Strong knowledge of gearbox design principles, mechanical analysis, and design verification methods.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and relevant industry standards.
- Significant experience supporting testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
- Proven track record of leading technical work across cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
- Experience in wind energy or other high-reliability rotating machinery environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to mentor peers and influence outcomes across organisational boundaries.
