Product Development Engineer
Indexed description
As our new Product Development Engineer, you will be driving end-to-end hardware design and development of electronic controllers, VFDs, and power-drive systems for Grundfos's next-generation product platforms. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.
What you will be doing
As a key part of the PD WU Controls team, you'll create impact by Architecting robust, safety-critical electronics solutions that power sustainable water systems serving millions of people worldwide..
Your main responsibilities include:
- Select and architect microcontroller platforms (8/16/32-bit) and design robust electronics architecture for controllers, VFDs, soft-starters, and power-drive systems
- Develop schematics and PCB layouts using PADS/Altium, and perform circuit simulation using PSPICE, LT-SPICE, or MATLAB Simulink
- Lead system-level design including magnetics design, thermal calculations, switching/conduction loss analysis, and EMI/EMC design considerations
- Execute Design FMEA, MTBF analysis, and ensure compliance with safety standards for safety-critical product development
- Perform board-level testing, system integration, fault finding, and coordinate with firmware teams during code development and validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, software, and third-party test labs to meet product requirements and certifications
Above all, you are a hands-on power electronics hardware engineer with deep expertise in embedded controller design, strong analytical skills, and a drive to deliver reliable, scalable product platforms in an agile environment. We would also imagine that you have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or Electronics Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in hardware design within the power electronics domain, including power supply and inverter designs
- Proficiency in PADS schematic and PCB design tools, with experience in hardware communication interfaces (RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB)
- Strong knowledge of control system design (PID), motor control theory (Induction/PMSM/FOC), and interfacing power electronics devices
- Experience with system design and modelling in SaberRD or MATLAB Simulink
- Knowledge of safety-critical product development standards and third-party certification processes
- Experience managing multiple concurrent development projects in an agile environment
We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:
- A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
- Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
- Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering in your community.
- Access to on-demand training and learning sessions and carefully structured programmes to pursue personal and professional development opportunities.
