Pole Design Engineer

Avaids Technovators is seeking a hands-on Lighting Pole Design Engineer to own the conversion of customer requirements and approved pole concepts into accurate, production-ready engineering documentation.

This is not a general product-design role. The successful candidate will design and detail street-lighting poles, decorative poles, high-mast components and associated fabricated steel assemblies; issue GA and fabrication drawings; prepare BOMs and cut lists; and provide clear manufacturing instructions to the factory, including data required for the cutting process.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs for street-lighting poles, decorative poles, high-mast assemblies, brackets, base plates, flanges, doors, stiffeners and related steel components.

• Prepare accurate General Arrangement drawings, detailed fabrication/shop drawings, assembly drawings and installation drawings.

• Create 3D models, 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, material take-offs, cut lists and revision-controlled documentation.

• Generate or support generation of machine-ready cutting information/files for the factory’s cutting process, as applicable to the equipment used.

• Translate approved client specifications, tender drawings and project requirements into practical, manufacturable pole designs.

• Detail pole shafts and structural components, including plate development, seam/weld details, flange/base-plate connections, access doors, cable-entry provisions and luminaire/bracket interfaces.

• Work with structural engineers or consultants on wind-load, deflection, stability and foundation-related inputs; incorporate approved design parameters into production drawings.

• Ensure drawings and material specifications align with applicable project requirements and relevant standards, including IS 2713, IS 875, IS 2062 and galvanising requirements where applicable.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following:

• Lighting-pole design and detailing.

• High-mast, street-lighting or decorative-pole manufacturing.

• Structural-steel fabrication drawings and shop detailing.

• Sheet-metal/plate fabrication design for welded, galvanised assemblies.

• Strong working proficiency in SolidWorks for parts, assemblies, drawings and sheet-metal work.

• Strong 2D drafting capability in AutoCAD or equivalent.

• Demonstrable experience producing GA drawings, fabrication drawings, BOMs, material take-offs and manufacturing documentation.

• Practical knowledge of mild steel, plate selection, welding, bending/forming, rolling/tapering, cutting, drilling, galvanising and surface-finishing processes.
