Tridonic is the Zumtobel Group’s technology provider, at the forefront of the lighting controls industry. We are a class leading €Billion multinational company Head Quartered in Austria, with manufacturing and R&D sites across the globe. You will join a 300+ engineer international R&D team, with this position based in the Spennymoor Centre of Competence for Emergency Lighting and for Smart Sensor design.


This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced R&D Engineer to take ownership of product development projects from concept through to production. Working with the latest electronic technologies, you will design reliable, cost-effective solutions while collaborating with manufacturing, purchasing, quality and service teams to bring products to market.


Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative electronic circuits and power electronic solutions for emergency lighting applications.
  • Lead product development projects from concept, simulation and prototyping through to production release and ongoing support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including schematics, bills of materials, drawings and test specifications.
  • Perform design simulation, fault analysis, validation testing and performance verification of new products.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet cost, quality and manufacturing requirements.
  • Support production, purchasing and service functions by providing expert technical guidance and problem-solving expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 quality standards and relevant industry requirements.
  • Support R&D Technicians, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and act as Technical Owner when required.


Skills & Experience

  • HND or degree level qualification in Electronics Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
  • Experience in electronic lighting applications, power electronics or switch mode power supply (SMPS) design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering and PC-based software tools.
  • Experience with embedded software development using C.
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 quality-managed environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple development activities and deliver to challenging project timescales.
