Your Role And Responsibilities

Your Role: Hardware Development Engineer – Signal & Power Integrity

We’re hiring development engineers (f/m/x) to join our Electrical Design Team starting January 1, 2027. As part of IBM’s Electronic Packaging organization, you will design, develop, and integrate innovative hardware solutions spanning server boards, processor modules, and validation hardware for IBM’s flagship IBM Z, POWER, and Quantum platforms.

Working in close collaboration with global development teams, you will take ownership of hardware solutions from concept and architecture through implementation, and validation, driving innovation across the full development lifecycle.

Key Areas of Work

  • Signal Integrity: Model, analyze & optimize industry-leading high-speed interconnects.
  • Power Integrity: Electrical modeling of power delivery networks for enterprise-class systems and high-current processors.
  • Packaging Design: Develop electrical solutions for single- and multi-chip modules using advanced packaging technologies.
  • Hardware Test: Support hardware bring-up, measurements, and failure analysis.
  • AI & Engineering Productivity: Explore, develop, and adopt AI-assisted engineering workflows to accelerate design, verification, analysis, and development activities.

Master's Degree

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

We’re looking for candidates with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset. Ideally, you have:

  • A Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, high-speed design, and circuit design
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation methodologies
  • Familiarity with PCB technologies and materials
  • Experience with PCB design, modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Ansys HFSS, CST, Keysight ADS, Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, Altium)
  • Programming experience (preferably Python)
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools, coding assistants, or workflow automation is a plus
  • Proactive, self-driven approach combined with a strong commitment to teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German
