Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for the engineering and design activities related to Transmission Line Engineering such as engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction management
- Prepare project construction documents such as plan and profile drawings; design drawings; engineering, material, and construction specifications; project schedules and bills of material
- Develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates
- Design new transmission line facilities with voltages ranging between 69 kV and 765 kV
- Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects.
- Attend contractor bid and construction meetings and assist in ensuring that work activities are performed safely and in accordance with plans and established schedules, and in accordance with AEP policies, rules and standards, and in compliance with external regulations
- Coordinate effectively with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors
- Provide leadership to facilitate project completion, to train and mentor other engineers, and to develop measurable work area goals and objectives
- Function as an engineering project lead for transmission projects
- Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within the work group, team, department, or external entities to complete transmission projects
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
- Identify and initiate corrective action when transmission line project objectives are not being met
- Interpret codes and regulations and develop standards for construction projects
- Promote engineering professionalism and standards
- Develop, recommend, and implement plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements that include all scheduling, resources, and information for complex engineering
- Position will require occasional travel for site visits
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET)
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET) will count toward years of experience
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
