Design and Process Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and develop insulators.
• Develop specifications for insulator components (e.g., materials, fittings, rod, primer, rubber,
• packaging, and hardware).
• Provide support to QA on testing and inspection of insulators.
• Provide technical support to Sales & Marketing on quotes and tenders.
• Recommend improvements in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of insulators.
• Solve problems that arise from Manufacturing or Suppliers.
• Prepare and conduct electrical and mechanical tests on insulators.
• Investigate and resolve customer technical issues.
• Assist in the commissioning of new tools and machinery.
• Provide stress analysis on insulators.
• Provide technical support and guidance to others in the Engineering Dept.
• Check, review, approve drawings, BOM, and other work for the Engineering Dept.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a requirement.
• Capability in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook is a requirement.
• PLS CADD/Pole for mechanical analysis of power line structures is an asset.
• Familiarity with software development and computer programming ability is an asset.
• Presentation & Verbal Communication Skills
• Lean Six Sigma (LSS) training and certification is an asset.

Experience

• 2 years of engineering experience.

Education

• University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Membership

• Valid Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license number searchable on Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) website is required.
