Responsibilities
- Design and develop insulators.
- Develop specifications for insulator components (e.g., materials, fittings, rod, primer, rubber,
- packaging, and hardware).
- Provide support to QA on testing and inspection of insulators.
- Provide technical support to Sales & Marketing on quotes and tenders.
- Recommend improvements in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of insulators.
- Solve problems that arise from Manufacturing or Suppliers.
- Prepare and conduct electrical and mechanical tests on insulators.
- Investigate and resolve customer technical issues.
- Assist in the commissioning of new tools and machinery.
- Provide stress analysis on insulators.
- Provide technical support and guidance to others in the Engineering Dept.
- Check, review, approve drawings, BOM, and other work for the Engineering Dept.
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a requirement.
- Capability in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook is a requirement.
- PLS CADD/Pole for mechanical analysis of power line structures is an asset.
- Familiarity with software development and computer programming ability is an asset.
- Presentation & Verbal Communication Skills
- Lean Six Sigma (LSS) training and certification is an asset.
Experience
- 2 years of engineering experience.
Education
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Membership
- Valid Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) license number searchable on Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) website is required.
