Lighting Design Release Engineer (Lighting DRE)

Job Responsibilities

  • Work as a Lighting Design Release Engineer (DRE) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Possess strong knowledge of automotive exterior lighting systems and key components, including headlamps, tail lamps, center light panels, and corner lamps.
  • Perform automotive interior and exterior lighting design activities, leveraging 10+ years of overall automotive lighting design experience.
  • Work closely with the Styling team to conduct feasibility studies, review A-class surfaces, and define craftsmanship targets.
  • Create, develop, complete, and release lighting components and assemblies while ensuring manufacturing feasibility.
  • Design automotive component parts using CATIA V6.
  • Collaborate actively with Tier-I suppliers on design projects, including trade-offs related to cost, mass, joining methods, molding, and testing performance.
  • Apply strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes to ensure robust and manufacturable designs.
  • Complete and release lighting components, sub-systems, and detailed designs according to project requirements.
  • Interpret simulation results and integrate recommendations into product designs.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure design quality, functionality, manufacturability, and timely release.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience specifically as a Lighting DRE.
  • 10+ years of experience in automotive interior and exterior lighting design.
  • Strong experience with CATIA V6.
  • Good understanding of automotive lighting systems, component design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working with Styling teams and Tier-I suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of design feasibility, A-class surfaces, craftsmanship, molding, joining methods, and testing.
  • Ability to interpret simulation results and implement design recommendations.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
