We are looking for an Experienced Electrical Design Engineer – Protection & Control Panels. This position will be based at QRO, MX.
- Design Electrical, Mechanical and System Drawings of Protection and Control Panels in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines, using design software and drawing tools.
- Develop logic diagrams and protection schemes based on technical drawings and further customer specifications.
- Prepare (FAT & SAT) Factory & Site Acceptance Test procedures for protection systems projects.
- Collaborate with a team of professionals to develop electrical Systems that meet industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities.
- Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
- Occasionally provide technical support to the sales team with the development of project scope of work, sales estimates, and proposals.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/ Electronic / Electromechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in electrical design in the Power Systems protection and Control Engineering Field.
- Experience working as a Technical Lead Engineer for Electrical Panel Design projects.
- Experience working with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or AUCOTEC Engineering Base Software.
- Experience producing technical documentation for Protection and Control systems for Substations such as Logic Diagrams, Sequences of Operations, FDS, and test procedures.
- Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Visio tools.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Applied knowledge of transmission and distribution protection relays; capable of designing and specifying them; capable of approving and supervising the designs of other engineers.
- Advanced knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL, ABB, and others relay/automation products and associated software.
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
- Communication protocols experience such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, PROFINET, PROFIBUS.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
- Automation or Protection commissioning experience.
- Factory or Site testing experience in Protection and Automation systems
- Around 5% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
- Advanced English level (Able to have technical and business conversations)
- Knowledge of Protection and Automation Systems of Electrical Systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of UL 508A requirements for protection and automation control panels.
- Applied knowledge of Medium and High Voltage Protection
- Medium voltage protection schemes (including design of transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes)
- Generator Protection
- Line Differential and Distance Protection
- Experience in designing Protection and Automation Panels for utilities.
- Professional Engineer license (PE).
- C Programming Language Experience.
- Experience working with Engineering Base (EB) Software-AUCOTEC and the Global Engineering Library (GEL) database for design.
- Experience working with MicroStation Software.
- Experience working with EPLAN.
- Knowledge of ANSI and IEC standards related to Protection and Electrical Panel Design.
