Mechanical design engineer- Instrument Panel (IP) and Console

Instrument Panel (IP) and Console Mechanical Design Engineer are responsible for the structural, functional, and ergonomic development of a vehicle's interior. Mechanical Design: Creating 3D models and 2D layouts using CAD software (predominantly CATIA V5/V6) to develop parts like center consoles, cup holders, trim pieces, and glove boxes.

Testing & Verification: Ensuring the dashboard and console meet rigid safety and noise standards. This involves managing IP squeak and rattle (S&R), airbag deployment clearance, and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) compliance.

Manufacturing Feasibility: Designing parts for assembly, prioritizing clip attachment methods, structural integrity, and tooling considerations for injection molding.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Negotiating with the styling (design) studios, testing departments, part suppliers, and factories to ensure the final product looks good, fits properly, and stays within budget.
