You’ll work alongside experienced transportation engineers on intersection and highway improvement projects, gaining hands-on experience with CAD and 3D design, traffic modeling and analysis, field investigations, and public engagement. You’ll receive mentorship as you build your technical skills, gain exposure to projects from planning through design, and work toward professional licensure.

Responsibilities
Transportation Design & Engineering
- Perform CAD and 3D design work for intersection, roadway, and highway improvement projects under the guidance of experienced engineers
- Assist with the development of transportation design plans, calculations, technical documentation, and other project deliverables
- Support traffic engineering studies and reports by compiling, analyzing, and presenting transportation data
- Assist with computer modeling of intersection capacity, traffic operations, and other transportation conditions
- Analyze modeling results and help translate findings into clear technical reports, recommendations, and project solutions
- Support traffic counting, GIS reporting, data collection, and other field investigations needed for transportation projects
- Work closely with engineers, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary teams to complete assigned project tasks
- Assist with the preparation of presentation materials and displays for public meetings and participate in public engagement activities
- Participate in project and client meetings alongside experienced staff while developing an understanding of project scope, schedules, budgets, and client needs
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
- Transportation or traffic engineering coursework or emphasis preferred
- No professional engineering experience required
- Transportation, roadway, traffic engineering, or civil engineering internship/co-op experience preferred
- Professional licensure is not required
- Degree should support future Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Previous consulting internship experience
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam passed
- Experience with Bentley OpenRoads or similar roadway design software
