Role Description The Design Engineer will work on-site in Milnthorpe in a full-time capacity, developing and refining designs for specialist livestock transporters. Day-to-day tasks include creating and updating technical drawings and 3D models, collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams, and ensuring designs meet safety, regulatory, and performance requirements. The role involves translating customer requirements into practical product designs, selecting suitable materials and components, and supporting the manufacturing team with clear specifications and documentation. The Design Engineer will also participate in design reviews, troubleshoot design issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of products and processes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design, with the ability to develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
- Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering concepts relevant to vehicle or equipment design.
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Electrical Engineering as it applies to vehicle systems and integrations.
- Relevant technical qualification or degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to interpret standards and regulations related to vehicle design and safety.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to work accurately to deadlines.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with workshop, engineering, and client stakeholders.
- Experience in commercial vehicle, agricultural, or livestock-related equipment design is beneficial.
