Patel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking a motivated and curious STEP Intern to gain hands-on experience while contributing to transportation engineering projects. Available in our Orlando, Bartow, and Tampa offices, the May-August program offers exposure to PGA’s core disciplines, Roadway, Drainage, Structures, and Traffic/ITS, as well as Planning, Landscape Architecture, Facilities Preservation, Marketing, GIS, PD&E, Design Development, and Environmental. Interns will work alongside staff on real project design tasks, exploring the many facets of the transportation industry.
What You’ll Do
- Gain proficiency with construction plans production
- Understand the concepts of geometry design
- Understand the development of pay item quantities and calculations
- Understand the process for development of a project cost estimate
- Effectively research projects and assist with marketing efforts
- Gain knowledge in all design standards, manuals, and criteria
- Requires regular technical supervision of tasks by technical or senior staff
- Complete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectations
- Support technical and senior staff with the development of plans, documents, and reports
- Compile documents in PDF for review or submittal
- Enrolled in an ABET Accredited Engineering Program
- Reliable form of transportation is required
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Great verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with a variety of personality types
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards in all work efforts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities
- Skill in working with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Office Products
