Mechatronics Engineer – UAV Systems
📍 Konstanz, Germany | Full-time | On-site
We’re working with a fast-growing defence technology company developing complete modular UAV systems, including the aircraft, payloads, electronics and ground-control equipment.
They are looking for a hands-on Mechatronics Engineer to develop and integrate multidisciplinary hardware across their drone platforms. You’ll take ownership from early concepts and CAD through prototyping, testing and production.
What you’ll be doing:
- Designing and developing mechanical and mechatronic assemblies for UAVs, payloads and ground equipment
- Integrating motors, actuators, sensors, PCBs, wiring and embedded electronics
- Building and testing prototypes in the workshop and laboratory
- Troubleshooting issues across mechanical, electrical and control systems
- Developing test equipment and validating systems through physical testing
- Improving designs for reliability, manufacturability and assembly
- Working closely with electronics, embedded software and production engineers
- Supporting products from initial concept through to production and field deployment
What they’re looking for:
- Experience developing complete mechatronic or electromechanical products
- Strong mechanical design and 3D CAD skills
- Practical experience integrating electronics, sensors, actuators and wiring
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, assembly, testing and fault finding
- Understanding of DFM/DFA and production processes
- Experience in UAVs, robotics, consumer electronics, automotive or similar hardware products
- Comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving startup environment
This would suit someone who enjoys building real hardware and working across mechanics, electronics and controls, not being limited to one narrow engineering discipline.
