Electronic Design Engineer, Principal

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Reporting to: Senior Director, Electronic Design Engineering (based in Zurich)

Permanent full-time role

Position Overview

The Electronic Design Engineer, Principal will utilize specialized in-depth knowledge to develop, design, and support broadband high-speed optical/electrical interface products. Will demonstrate conceptual and practical expertise in electronic design challenges and basic knowledge of related disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized in-depth expertise in the design, drafting, test, and release of new products, devices, circuits, and/or systems.
  • Be responsible for all design activities and related product development activities from kick-off through engineering evaluation and write test and assembly plans and procedures.
  • Function as a resource to develop team atmosphere together with our transistor designers, our application, and device engineering teams.
  • Initiate prototype builds and manage product characterization. Design evaluation boards and characterization fixtures, direct or perform measurements, and process and present evaluation data against the product development goals.
  • Provide clear status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing test data.
  • Expert in formal stage-gate new product introduction process.
  • Interpret internal/external business challenges and recommends best practice and innovative solutions to improve products, processes, or services.
  • Awareness of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market, ability to negotiate.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team and other related teams, acts as resource for colleagues and may lead functional teams on projects.
  • Work with our Product Engineering group to transfer products to production.

Key Competencies & Skills Required

  • In-depth understanding of a variety of Analog/RF/mmWave circuits and systems.
  • Knowledge of high frequency circuit design in high end process nodes
  • Broadband design and SiGe BiCMOS process experiences are big plus
  • Analyze best practices to improve product, processes, or services.
  • Strong ability to lead others to solve complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Fluent with relevant electronics simulation tools, software, (Cadence, ADS) and test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, etc.).
  • Fluent in Electro-magnetic and/or Electro-optic simulations, thermal simulation.
  • Experience with integration and experience designing for high yield and low cost.
  • Specialized knowledge of the operation and calibration of industry standard test equipment.
  • Experience with the design of evaluation boards including both electrical and thermal aspects.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Required Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Electronics Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years of Analog/RF IC design experience.
