We are looking for an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing next-generation technologies for the renewable energy sector.
This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with experience in solar and wind inverters, grid connection and energy storage who wants to contribute to the development of efficient, reliable and grid-compliant renewable energy systems.
The Role
As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, integration and validation of advanced power conversion systems for renewable energy applications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing solar and wind inverter systems
- Working on grid-connected power conversion and inverter architectures
- Supporting the integration of energy storage systems
- Developing and optimising DC/AC and DC/DC converter stages
- Working on grid connection and grid integration technologies
- Supporting the development of grid-forming and grid-following inverter solutions
- Performing electrical, thermal and system-level analysis and simulations
- Developing and optimising inverter control strategies
- Supporting compliance with relevant grid codes and connection requirements
- Developing prototypes and supporting testing, validation and commissioning
- Analysing efficiency, power quality, harmonics, losses and system performance
- Working closely with hardware, software, controls, grid and systems engineering teams
- Supporting technical documentation, design reviews and product qualification
You will ideally have:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy or a related discipline
- Professional experience in power electronics development
- Experience with solar PV inverters, wind power converters and/or energy storage systems
- Strong understanding of grid-connected inverter technology
- Knowledge of grid codes, power quality, harmonics and grid integration
- Experience with inverter control strategies, including grid-following and/or grid-forming control
- Knowledge of power semiconductor technologies such as IGBT, SiC and/or GaN
- Experience with simulation tools such as PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice or similar
- Practical experience with prototype testing, validation and troubleshooting
- Understanding of energy storage and BESS technologies is advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A hands-on and structured approach to engineering
- Native-level German language skills are essential
- Good working proficiency in English
