What will you be doing?
- Performing roadway, drainage, and multimodal design tasks under the direction of a licensed engineer.
- Developing design elements such as alignments, profiles, cross sections, grading, and typical sections.
- Preparing and updating construction plans, quantities, and cost estimates.
- Applying applicable design standards, manuals, and agency criteria, including state DOT and local agency requirements.
- Coordinating design tasks with other internal discipline leads.
- Participating in quality control reviews and incorporating feedback into design deliverables.
- Supporting preparation of technical memoranda, reports, and design documentation.
- Assisting with responding to agency comments and coordinating revisions.
- Managing assigned tasks to meet schedules and budgets with guidance from project leadership.
- Participating in field reviews, site visits, and construction support activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- 3+ years of roadway or transportation design experience.
- Working knowledge of roadway design principles and transportation engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Experience with 3D design software such as Civil3D or OpenRoads.
- Experience working on DOT, county, or municipal transportation projects.
- Exposure to multimodal design, drainage analysis and design, roundabouts, or urban roadway projects.
- Familiarity with ADA requirements and accessibility standards.
- Interest in professional licensure and long-term career growth in roadway design.
