Senior Electrical Engineer

HÜBNER Photonics is expanding its R&D organization and is looking for a motivated Electronics Design Engineer to join the R&D team at Cobolt AB in Stockholm, Sweden. As part of HÜBNER Photonics, Cobolt develops, manufactures, and supplies high-performance lasers and laser systems for demanding applications, including life sciences, AR/VR, quantum technologies, and semiconductor manufacturing. Our products are used by system suppliers and leading research institutes worldwide and are recognized for their exceptional quality and reliability.

About the role

As an Electronics Design Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues across electronics, software, mechanical engineering, and optics. You will play an important role in the development and continuous improvement of our laser products. You will be involved throughout the development process, from initial design and prototyping to testing, verification, and product implementation. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with advanced laser technology and contribute to innovative products in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing and developing new electronics for next-generation laser products

• Developing customer-specific electronics solutions and adaptations

• Further developing and improving existing products and electronics

• Creating manufacturing documentation for complete PCB assemblies, including PCB layout

• Building, testing, and evaluating prototypes in a laboratory environment

• Performing testing, characterization, verification, and troubleshooting

• Supporting production and sales with technical expertise

Qualifications

We believe you are a thorough and structured person who enjoys working as part of a team and finds it easy to communicate and collaborate with others. We would also like you to have:

• A BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, or a similar field, with a strong theoretical background.

• Very good knowledge of primarily analog, but also digital, electronics design, with at least 5 years of professional experience.

• Experience of using simulation tools like PSpice.

• Good knowledge of PCB design and layout using Altium Designer.

• Extensive experience in preparing manufacturing documentation.

• Familiarity with CE marking requirements and certification processes, such as EMC, EMI, and conducted emissions.

• Experience with, or knowledge of, working with microcontrollers, such as STM32 Cortex-M4.

• Excellent written and spoken Swedish and English skills
