Job Requirements
Electronics & PCB Development - Primary Focus
- Develop analog, digital and power-electronic circuits as well as power and control PCB solutions for intelligent electronic products
- Derive electronics and hardware requirements from customer, product and system requirements and translate them into robust circuit concepts
- Create and maintain schematics and PCB designs, preferably using Altium Designer, including component selection, calculations, interface definitions and design documentation
- Develop and integrate power stages, sensing, protection, diagnostics, communication interfaces and microcontroller peripherals
- Design and review PCB layouts with focus on high-current paths, current density, thermal behavior, EMC/EMI, creepage and clearance, insulation coordination and design robustness
- Develop electronics and PCB solutions for low-voltage and high-voltage applications, including switching, protection, monitoring and controlled discharge functions
- Perform circuit and thermal simulations using suitable tools such as LTspice and execute initial commissioning, laboratory measurements, design verification and root-cause analysis
- Coordinate prototype fabrication, component qualification, supplier clarification, validation, design for manufacturing, test concepts, production introduction and technical release
- Implement small and clearly bounded embedded functions in C where directly connected to the electronic product
- Typical examples include simple device-control or diagnostic logic, hardware bring-up support, communication handling, measurement functions or a small standalone firmware project
- Adapt microcontroller configuration, input/output behavior and simple interfaces required to validate or operate the electronics
- Perform basic debugging and functional verification and provide proportionate source-code documentation and test evidence
- The role does not own complex software platforms, large software projects or overall software architecture
- Maintain the technical overview of complex electronic systems, including electrical architecture, power paths, connected loads, control and protection functions, communication and application interfaces
- Clarify relevant system, electronics and interface requirements and ensure consistency across the assigned technical scope
- Define and review electrical interfaces, operating concepts, diagnostics, communication behavior, protection strategies and integration concepts
- Understand product interactions and dependencies within the surrounding application system
- Ensure traceability between requirements, electronics design, product functions, verification and validation evidence
- Contribute to system reviews, technical risk assessments, integration planning and validation strategy without acting as the overall system architect
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a comparable technical field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in electronics development, schematic and PCB design, validation or system integration for industrial or transportation products
- Demonstrated hands-on experience developing and validating multidisciplinary electronic products
- Experience owning technically demanding work packages or subprojects across multiple engineering disciplines
- Strong practical knowledge of analog and digital electronics, power-electronics fundamentals, microcontroller-based designs, schematic development and PCB design
- Experience with schematic and PCB design tools, preferably Altium Designer, and simulation tools such as LTspice or comparable applications
- Knowledge of PCB quality standards, clearance and creepage calculations, EMC considerations, thermal simulation and current-density analysis
- Experience with high-voltage electronic systems (>=60 V DC), including insulation coordination, creepage and clearance design, HV protection concepts and validation; experience with applications up to 1000 V DC is a strong advantage
- Basic knowledge of Functional Safety according to ISO 26262, including hardware development considerations, DFMEA, HW-FMEDA and safety-related design reviews, is an advantage
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment, electronics validation, debugging, root-cause analysis and design-for-manufacturing
- Experience with electronics requirements, technical specifications, component qualification, validation planning and development documentation
- Basic embedded C programming skills for small, product-related firmware tasks; knowledge of CAN, LIN, SPI or comparable interfaces is an advantage
- Very good English skills; German is an advantage. Willingness to travel occasionally to TE locations, customers and suppliers
