We are looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer who is responsible for designing and project management for industrial climatic control test equipment projects.
Main Responsibilities:
- Designs mechanical systems and products by applying the principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials engineering.
- Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and assisting in testing finished products.
- Develops mechanical systems by studying customer requirements, researching, and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials, and soliciting observations from operators.
- Develops 3-D models of parts and assemblies used to create General Arrangement and fabrication drawings.
- Performs FEA for stress and deflection as needed.
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
- Creates and maintains Bill of Material for systems within our ERP system.
- Works with customers to establish product requirements within specification parameters and on budget.
- Selects components based on design specifications and company best practices.
- Utilizing problem solving techniques, Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions at times with a group using reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with relevant standards and regulations.
- Confirms fabrication, assembly, and installation processes match design.
- Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Reviews project results and revises design documents based on as built revisions.
- Collects and researches data, using intuition and experience to complement data.
- Perform project management duties including developing project plans; coordinating projects; communicating changes and progress.
- Possess mental faculties consistent with performing the minimum requirements of the job.
- All other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/technical specialization.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
- Ability to generate solutions by translating concepts and information into images, using feedback to modify designs; applies design principles; Demonstrates attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Good organizational skills
- Experience in AutoCAD and Inventor 3-D Design and Drawing software.
- Ability to independently complete FEA analysis in Autodesk Inventor.
- The position is located in a mixed office and test laboratory environment and will involve hands-on work. Physical activity may include lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity or sitting for long periods of time
- Ability to walk.
- Ability to see with corrective lenses.
- Ability to hear.
- Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to travel up to 10% domestically
- Normal hazards related to working in an office environment, manufacturing, and testing environment
- Normal hazards related to road and air travel
