⚙️ Design Engineer – Warehouse Automation

📍 Oberbergischer Kreis, Germany | Hybrid – 3 days per week

JBAndrews is supporting an established international business within the intralogistics sector as they expand their engineering team in Germany with the appointment of two Design Engineers.

This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership beyond simply producing drawings. You’ll work on customised automation projects from the post-order engineering phase through manufacturing and installation, working closely with systems integrators, production teams and colleagues across the wider engineering organisation.

Projects typically range from approximately €500k to €10m and support automation installations around the world.

The Responsibilities

• Detailed engineering of storage and racking solutions used within automated warehouse environments
• Developing project layouts and detailed engineering designs
• Producing manufacturing and installation drawings
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Working directly with systems integrators throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinating closely with internal manufacturing and production teams
• Supporting customised engineering requirements for individual projects
• Remaining technically involved during installation and resolving site/design issues
• Contributing to the development and improvement of new products and systems
• Taking ownership of technical problems and developing practical engineering solutions

The Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering experience
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong experience with AutoCAD
• Previous experience in design engineering, mechanical engineering or technical drafting
• Experience within racking, storage systems, warehouse automation, intralogistics or a closely related engineering environment
• The ability to work in both German and English
• A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach
• The confidence to take ownership of engineering challenges while working effectively as part of an international team
• Experience working directly with automated storage systems or systems integrators would be particularly relevant.
