Position Summary

McCormick Taylor is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our Baltimore, MD office. The primary duties of the Transportation Engineer are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of various transportation projects. Projects may include the preliminary and final engineering of roadway/transportation improvements, intersection design, ADA & bicycle facility design, site development improvements, transit facilities, as well as field visits and inspections.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Performing engineering calculations
  • Develop roadway improvements, intersection design, ADA design, bicycle facility design, site improvements, and transit facilities
  • 2D and 3D modeling
  • Quantity development, cost estimating and specification writing
  • Support quality control/quality assurance (QA/QC)
  • Develop project work plans
  • Attending internal and external client meetings
  • Work under the guidance of experienced project managers
  • Able to work on multiple design projects concurrently
  • Flexible to work with other disciplines to provide support when needed
  • Will lead the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction. This will include plans, specifications, and cost estimates

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of transportation design elements, standards, and constructability methods
  • 4-12 years of experience in the design of highway/roadway, civil engineering and transportation projects for Maryland counties, and local municipalities
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • Strong communications and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments
  • Willing and capable of performing occasional field work and have a valid driver’s license
  • PE certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, InRoads, and OpenRoads are a plus
