Your Responsibilities
- Design and document low-voltage power and control systems for magnet safety, control and auxiliary infrastructure.
- Participate in the implementation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems for future LHC upgrades.
- Contribute to the development and validation of electrical circuits for control and protection applications.
- Collaborate with physicists, engineers and technicians to develop reliable and efficient technical solutions.
- Produce technical documentation and support the operation of critical systems.
- Experience working on electrical engineering, automation or technical projects.
- Exposure to electrical circuit design and documentation.
- Experience using engineering software tools for electrical design (e.g. EPLAN or equivalent).
- Experience with laboratory testing, commissioning or troubleshooting activities.
- Participation in collaborative technical projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Knowledge of low-voltage power distribution and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Basic knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation and industrial control systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical Technical Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
Working hours: 40 hours per week
Job flexibility: Fully Onsite
Target start date: 01-December-2026
This position involves:
- Participation in a regular stand-by duty, including nights, Sundays and official holidays.
- Work in Radiation Areas.
- Interventions in underground installations.
- Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations.
- A valid driving licence.
- Stand-by duty, when required by the needs of the Organization.
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
