For the expansion of our team, we are seeking to hire in Geneva a dynamic and motivated Senior R&D Engineer.
As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will be involved with the R&D team in the development of cutting-edge high-speed switching devices such as high-speed DC circuit breakers, contributing to the full product lifecycle: from design to application.
You will work at the intersection of electrical and mechanical engineering, bringing expertise in power electronics, dielectrics and thermal advanced modeling, playing a key role in shaping the future of medium voltage switching technology.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to innovative R&D projects focused on high-speed circuit breakers and related switching technologies.
- Design and simulate electrical switching systems using MATLAB/Simulink, COMSOL MultiPhysics including electromagnetic, thermal, material science and dielectric behavior.
- Define and execute test plans for prototypes, including dielectric, thermal, and mechanical validation.
- Interface with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical and electronics engineers.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize material processing and industrialization.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical strategy and innovation roadmaps.
- Contribute to patent filings, technical documentation, and compliance with IEC/IEEE standards.
- Develop and validate electronic control boards for switching and protection systems.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in R&D for low voltage and/or medium voltage electric equipment.
- Good understanding of Railway protection systems - Modern DC microgrids.
- English fluent mandatory, French strong plus.
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Applied Physics or similar.
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical and magnetic systems.
- Experience with testing and validation in high-voltage environments.
- Knowledge of High-speed DC circuit breakers.
- Good knowledge in power electronics switching devices.
- Thermal and dielectric analysis.
- Modeling and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink - COMSOL.
- Material processing and manufacturing techniques.
- Electronic board design and integration.
- CAD 3D design tools (SolidWorks).
- Curious, attentive to detail, team player.
