About EH Group Engineering

EHG is developing cutting-edge fuel cell technology for heavy duty mobility and large-scale stationary power applications. Our uniquely redesigned product is a significantly more compact fuel cell with high power density and lower costs of production. Faced with the challenges of climate change and the transition to a decentralised energy system, EHG seeks to provide high performance and cost-effective fuel cell solutions to our clients and partners.

To help achieve our vision of a decarbonised future we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the cell and stack architecture at the heart of our compact, high power density fuel cell products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design/conceptualise fuel cell stack components such end plates, compression and clamping hardware
  • Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and tolerancing (GD&T) with stack tolerance analysis
  • Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principles to stack components
  • Support prototyping, stack build, leak and performance testing
  • Work coordination between R&D and production team
  • Work with various suppliers for component orders
  • Maintain BOMs, work with PDM and engineering changes in PLM

Skills and Experience Required:

  • BSc/MSc in mechanical engineering is mandatory
  • Minimum 4-5 years of mechanical design experience in an engineering hardware business; fuel cells or electrolysers an advantage
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (ex. SolidWorks) and in-depth understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding of DFM/DFA and of thin-metal forming, coating, laser welding and joining processes
  • In-depth understanding of thermofluidic and aspects related to fuel cells
  • Able to own a design end-to-end while working closely with team members
