Mechanical Design Engineer – Fuel Cell Stack

To help achieve our vision of a decarbonised future we are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the cell and stack architecture at the heart of our compact, high power density fuel cell products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design/conceptualise fuel cell stack components such end plates, compression and clamping hardware
- Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and tolerancing (GD&T) with stack tolerance analysis
- Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly principles to stack components
- Support prototyping, stack build, leak and performance testing
- Work coordination between R&D and production team
- Work with various suppliers for component orders
- Maintain BOMs, work with PDM and engineering changes in PLM
- BSc/MSc in mechanical engineering is mandatory
- Minimum 4-5 years of mechanical design experience in an engineering hardware business; fuel cells or electrolysers an advantage
- Proficiency with 3D CAD (ex. SolidWorks) and in-depth understanding of GD&T
- Understanding of DFM/DFA and of thin-metal forming, coating, laser welding and joining processes
- In-depth understanding of thermofluidic and aspects related to fuel cells
- Able to own a design end-to-end while working closely with team members
- Knowledge of sealing design, flow distribution, contact pressure or materials corrosion is a plus
- Team player able to work autonomously with internal and external experts
- Excellent spoken and written English is mandatory; French/German is a plus
