Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview: Collaborate across departments to develop automotive body structures and interior components that balance performance, styling, manufacturability, and cost. Design structural and styled parts using materials like steel, plastics, and composites, and support research of new technologies for future vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and manage 3D models, layouts, and engineering drawings using CATIA, ensuring compliance with standards (30%)
• Coordinate with internal teams and negotiate with suppliers to align product goals (30%)
• Lead supplier activities, monitor progress, and ensure quality and performance (20%)
• Support testing, analyze results, and develop countermeasures to meet performance targets (10%)
• Estimate and manage costs, weight, and tooling investments throughout development (10%)

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 0-2 years of experience
• Proficiency in CATIA or similar CAD software
• Strong mechanical design fundamentals, self-motivation, organizational skills, and effective communication
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external suppliers, with analytical problem-solving abilities

Decision-Making: Propose design solutions, assess feasibility of styling and supplier proposals, and balance conflicting objectives.

Work Environment: Primarily office-based with some interaction in testing labs and manufacturing settings. Some overtime and limited travel may be required.
