Mechanical Design Engineer

Role Overview: This position involves collaborating across departments to develop automotive underbody structures and components that balance vehicle performance, styling, manufacturability, and cost considerations. Responsibilities include designing structural and styled parts using various materials and manufacturing processes, managing 3D models and engineering drawings in CATIA, and supporting prototype and validation activities. The role also entails leading supplier development, overseeing quality and cost targets, and researching new technologies for future applications.

Key Duties

• Create and manage 3D models and detailed drawings in CATIA to support development efforts.
• Coordinate with design, testing, manufacturing, and purchasing teams to ensure project alignment.
• Lead supplier activities by establishing design goals, reviewing progress, and ensuring quality, cost, and performance standards.
• Support verification, analyze test results, and develop corrective actions.
• Monitor and manage part cost, weight, and investment, including supplier quotation reviews.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with up to 2 years of relevant experience. Recent graduates with relevant internships or projects are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly CATIA.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in an office environment with some exposure to labs and manufacturing settings.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Work Conditions: Primarily office-based with some laboratory and manufacturing interactions. Occasional overtime may be required.
