By joining our Division of Structural Design as an Engineer-In-Training I in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to learn how to design highway structures in accordance with KY Transportation Cabinet requirements as well as in accordance with the AASHTO LRFD (Load and Resistance Factor Design) Bridge Design Specifications.

Summary Of Responsibilities

  • Design bridges, culverts, and retaining walls
  • Detail structures in accordance with design
  • Check designs of other Engineers

Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In

  • Structural Analysis and computer modeling
  • Detailing structures using MicroStation
  • Design Structures using AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with an accredited bachelor's degree in engineering.

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title will perform duties in an office setting as well as in a field setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
