About the role:

GM Munich is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer (f/m/d) to drive the development of state-of-the-art automotive radar and ECU hardware. This role is intended to provide senior technical ownership across detailed design, bring-up, validation, release, and manufacturing support for complex mixed-signal electronic systems.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Developing complex mixed-signal electrical designs involving SoC-based systems, high-speed digital interfaces, analog circuitry and power supply design for radar and ECU hardware for automotive applications (incl. simulations, respectively EMC compliance etc.)
• Driving, guiding or supporting whole hardware lifecycle stages.
• Supporting technical decision activities and trade-offs across performance, manufacturability, cost, schedule, reliability, and risk.
• Performing design verification activities (e.g root-cause analysis, debugging, issue resolution) across prototypes and validation hardware.
• Performing and/or supporting design validation activities, including environmental, EMC, signal integrity, power integrity, and system-level verification activities.
• Close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams, as well as coordination external suppliers and related specialist departments within GM in a fast-paced development environment
• Recommending, documenting, and implementing best practices for hardware development and technical documentation.

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

• University degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Several years (5+) of hands-on experience in electrical hardware development (automotive experience is highly desired)
• Experience with mixed-signal hardware design, high-speed digital design, power design
• Experience with high-performance PCB layout design such as EMC, signal and power integrity simulations
• Experience with board bring-up, debugging, verification, validation and production support.
• Understanding of requirements traceability, configuration management, release processes, and design documentation.
• Experience to work effectively across disciplines and with external suppliers or manufacturing partners (e.g. PCB Manufacturer).
• Strong technical communication skills and business fluent English.

• Experience with automotive, aerospace, defense, or similarly regulated product-development environments.
• Experience supporting EMC investigations, root-cause analysis, and technical issue closure in prototype or pre-production phases.
• Experience developing radar sensors, embedded computing hardware, or comparable high-performance electronic products.
• Experience with compliance or robustness standards such as ISO 26262, ISO 16750, MIL-STD 810, MIL-STD 461, RTCA DO-160, IEC 61508, or related frameworks.
