The Design Engineer is expected to conceptualise, design and develop innovative solutions for products or sub-components relating to small and medium calibre Remote Weapon Systems. This can be new prototype developments or upgrades to existing solutions to improve system performance or address obsolescence. Apart from being responsible for hardware design and parts selection, he/she is also required to manage the systems configuration, parts integration and product testing.

In the course of work, the Design Engineer will be collaborating with other stakeholders, especially in the areas of electrical/electronics integration and software programming.

The Design Engineer will need to:

  • Study of requirements or tasks prior to commencement of design;
  • Generate design concepts based on factors like performance, safety, cost, manufacturability, reliability and maintainability;
  • Use 3D Computer Aided Design software to create models, assemblies and drawings;
  • Present and articulate design concepts for design review and discussion;
  • Prepare documents and test plans for submission;
  • Conduct tests, analyse data and propose conclusions;
  • Interact with team members, vendors and customers on a daily basis.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3 to 4 years working experience in mechanical systems design (entry level candidate are welcomed to apply).
  • Understanding mechatronics and software design will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, e.g. Unigraphics, Pro-Engineer.
  • Analytical, meticulous and a system thinker.
  • Independent, self-driven and able to work in a team.
  • Willing to travel overseas.
