Senior Hardware Engineer (Radar/RF)
Indexed description
We operate at the intersection of hardware and software, designing and building integrated systems with a strong emphasis on accuracy, reliability, and performance. Rapsodo is a globally distributed team, working across regions, cultures, and time zones. What enables us to operate effectively is not just technical capability, but how we work - with ownership, clarity, and disciplined execution.
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer with strong end-to-end design capabilities across mixed-signal and RF/radar circuits. The successful candidate will specialize in RF and radar systems and will own hardware designs from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, bring-up, validation and transition to production. You will collaborate closely with NPI, firmware, mechanical and manufacturing engineering teams to deliver robust, manufacturable and high-performance hardware for radar and mixed-signal products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, schematic design and PCB layout of radar and mixed-signal systems, including FPGAs/SoCs/microcontrollers, power management, sensors and high-speed buses.
- Design radar systems based on FMCW, pulsed-Doppler and MIMO architectures across multiple frequency bands, including 10 GHz, 24 GHz, 60 GHz and 77 GHz.
- Develop RF and radar front-end circuits, including transmitters, receivers, mixers, LNAs, PAs, filters, oscillators, PLLs/synthesizers and antenna interfaces, across the relevant operating bands.
- Conduct board bring-up, RF testing, characterization and full system validation to ensure optimal product performance and reliability.
- Define and implement EMI/EMC mitigation strategies and drive regulatory compliance for FCC, CE, EMC and safety standards from the earliest design stages.
- Partner with firmware, mechanical and NPI teams to optimize enclosure integration, thermal management, manufacturability and a seamless transition into high-volume production.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Minimum of 6 years of proven experience in RF, Radar system, hardware design and development, with strong expertise in schematic capture and complex multilayer PCB layout.
- Extensive hands-on experience with radar technologies, including radar system architecture, performance characterization, analog circuit design and signal processing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of CW and FMCW radar systems, including system-level integration, calibration, testing, validation and performance optimization.
- In-depth expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC mitigation and grounding/shielding techniques for high-speed systems.
- Proficient with RF and high-speed test and measurement equipment, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, signal generators and high-bandwidth oscilloscopes.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance processes (FCC, EMC/CE, ETSI, Safety, TELEC, etc)
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional, multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to engineering excellence.
