Overview

The Assoc Mechanical Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for learning and developing the mechanical design and analysis of assigned deliverables for CB&I projects including specific complex deliverables such as pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, rotating equipment, and piping engineering. Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages for equipment and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products
  • Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Assist in generating working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Assist in the creation and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Support project timelines to ensure the project stays within budget
  • Maintain and promote a focus on CB&I’s products whether engineering, fabrication or construction.

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of experience working in engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field from an accredited school is required.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) or working toward obtaining EIT, and then a professional engineering license is preferred.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
