Akkodis is seeking a Control Engineer in Naperville, IL.
Pay Range: $50/hr. to $60/hr. on W2. (The pay may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Job Description:
The primary purpose of the project engineer in the controls group is to design control system hardware and software that meets the needs of a project. It is the project engineer’s responsibility to fully understand the machine operation and control needs and efficiently turn those requirements into hardware and software design using past standards where possible. The project engineer’s creativity is key to producing easy to operate, safe, on-time equipment that will give Molex a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The controls project engineer works with the mechanical project engineer to determine the operational specifications of a machine. The control hardware is designed from these specifications. Design of panel layouts, enclosure designs, electrical and pneumatic schematics, bills of material and machine cable routing is done on CAD.
- Hands-on expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT and multi-axis motion control systems
- Both onsite and remote work, as well as direct interaction with customers to tailor solutions to their specific needs
REQUIRED:
- Five years of controls automation experience
- Hands-on expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT and multi-axis motion control systems.
- Experience in developing control software using Beckhoff TwinCAT 3
- Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming, particularly Structured Text (ST); Ladder Diagram experience is also valuable.
- Experience with HMI development within the Beckhoff/TwinCAT environment.
- Machine safety implementation, Safety PLC’s, Guarding.
- Successfully completed complex control system designs from concept thru debug
- Software experience with 2D and 3D CAD.
PREFERRED:
- Demonstrated experience in developing multiaxis coordinated motion control systems, including servo tuning, cam profiles, electronic gearing, or synchronized motion.
- Ability to commission and debug control systems both in-house and at customer sites.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- REQUIRED: Strong organizational skills and logical thinker
- Able to learn new software/technology quickly and absorb new concepts easily
- Strong PC skills including Windows, database, spreadsheet, communications software and PLC editors
