Internship conversion position for the Mechanical Design and Analysis section within xLab. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Generate CAD designs and drawings using SolidWorks
- Work with machine shop on manufacturability of designs
- Perform structural analysis using ANSYS
- Support senior engineers in completing more complex tasks
- Support the built and test of prototype design
- Create reports and presentations in Word or PowerPoint to share within and outside xLab
- Responsible for assigned project completion and delivery to customer
- Duties, responsibilities and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned as needed
- Training and mentorship will be provided
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or other discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
- 0-1 year of industry work experience
- Prior internship at The Aerospace Corporation
- Familiarity with Mechanical Design
- Familiarity with SolidWorks
- Willing to travel domestically approx. 10% of time.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
- 1-2 years of experience in Mechanical Design
- Familiarity with GD&T for drawing tolerancing
- Familiarity with machining processes and welding standards
- Familiarity with structural analysis using software such as ANSYS or NASTRAN

$90,000.00 - $100,000.00
Pay Basis: Annual
