A well-established engineering firm specializing in construction defect investigations and forensic investigations is seeking an associate / mid-level Project Engineer to join their team. This is a strong opportunity for a design engineer looking to pivot into forensics, or a forensic engineer looking to grow their career alongside recognized experts in the field.
Remote-based role with regional travel (up to ~30%).
Role Overview
The Project Engineer will support lead experts across a range of forensic engineering activities, including field investigations, engineering calculations, design and document review, observation of destructive testing, and evaluation of construction drawings and specifications. This is a hands-on, collaborative role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving and wants a path toward a lead expert / consulting role over time.
Essential Experience
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Demonstrated design experience within their discipline (Civil or Structural)
- Experience serving as Engineer of Record on contract documents, plans, or specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel within-state, with potential for regional travel
Desirable Experience
- Prior forensic engineering experience, particularly involving property loss or similar evaluations
- Interest in transitioning from a design-focused career into forensic engineering
- Fundamental knowledge of engineering analysis and building code requirements
- A collaborative, team-oriented working style
- Ambition to grow into a lead expert/consulting role over time
