Engineer I- Electrical Distribution Design (Early Career)

As anEngineer I, you will support the design and development of electrical distribution projects for major utility clients. You’ll learn to translate field data and engineering principles into accurate, construction‑ready job plans that meet customer standards. With guidance from senior engineers, you will build a strong technical foundation and progress toward independent project ownership.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- ABET‑accredited degree inElectrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus
- Prior field experience preferredStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Effective communication skills
- CAD experience (AutoCAD or MicroStation) a plus
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Maintain a safe working environment during both office and field assignments
- Gather and analyze field and technical data to support distribution design
- Develop cost‑effective designs aligned with utility standards
- Assist in permitting coordination with municipalities
- Support construction teams to resolve design questions
- Participate in field work as required to support design development
- Communicate effectively with project teams
- Manage time efficiently to meet project benchmarks
- Other duties as assigned
CAREER GROWTH
Engineer I roles lead to advancement into Engineer II, Engineer III, or specialized engineering/leadership positions within AES.
