At Urenco, we are helping to deliver secure, sustainable and low-carbon energy for generations to come. As a global technology leader in uranium enrichment, we play a critical role in supporting the world's transition to a net-zero future.

To strengthen our Design Engineering team in Gronau, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer (Design Engineering) who is passionate about solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to innovative technologies within a highly regulated industrial environment.

In this role, you will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team and contribute to plant designs and the design development of advanced electrical systems. You will support projects from feasibility and concept development through to Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), helping to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Urenco's facilities worldwide.

Your role

As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the development of engineering solutions for new facilities and modifications to existing production plants. Working closely with senior engineers and technical specialists, you will contribute to technically challenging projects that have a direct impact on Urenco's future operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED): Conceptual Design and Basic Design packages.
  • Evaluate and develop electrical engineering solutions for industrial power generation and distribution systems, ranging from site-level HV systems to plant-level LV networks.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, optioneering activities and Best Available Technology (BAT) assessments.
  • Assist in the design and evaluation of electrical systems, including centrifuge drive systems, UPS installations and standby power generation.
  • Ensure that safety requirements and lessons learned are incorporated into plant designs and engineering specifications.
  • Support the development and maintenance of Group Reference Design standards and safety case requirements.
  • Contribute to technical reviews and engineering assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, project teams and external engineering partners.
  • Support Post Implementation Reviews and continuous improvement activities.

What You'll Bring

We are looking for an engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, continuous learning and working in a collaborative international environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
  • Expertise in large industrial, process or nuclear environment, particularly in electrical systems and design engineering.
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems, industrial installations and engineering standards.
  • Experience with technical design, engineering calculations and system modelling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A structured, quality-focused and safety-conscious approach to engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

Ideally, you will also have

  • Experience in industrial plant design, energy systems, chemical processing, utilities or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems.
  • Experience with feasibility studies, engineering design packages or technical project delivery.
  • Familiarity with quality management principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Experience within the nuclear industry is beneficial but not required. We welcome candidates from other complex industrial sectors who are eager to learn and develop.
