RSGx is expanding its high-performing electrical engineering team and is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in grid connection, infrastructure, and substation design to support major data centre and critical infrastructure projects across the east coast.

This is an opportunity to work on some of Australia’s most technically demanding infrastructure projects, helping design to deliver the electrical infrastructure required to connect and power large-scale, high-availability facilities.

About The Role

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for developing and delivering electrical designs associated with grid connections, distribution and substations for data centres and other critical infrastructure projects.

Working on concept and detailed design collaborating closely with internal teams, clients, network service providers, project managers, engineers and construction teams as required.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Developing electrical designs for grid connections, networks and substations
  • Designing and documenting LV, MV, HV distribution systems, transformers, switchgear and protection systems
  • Developing substation layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules and equipment specifications
  • Reviewing and refining design documentation, calculations and construction/shop drawings as required.
  • Supporting design reviews, constructability assessments and technical problem-solving
  • Ensuring designs meet relevant Australian Standards, network requirements and project-specific technical requirements

About You

You’re an experienced Electrical Design Engineer who understands the demands of high-availability electrical infrastructure and enjoys working on technically complex, high-value projects.

You’ll Ideally Bring

  • A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Proven experience in electrical design within data centres, critical infrastructure, utilities or major infrastructure projects
  • Strong experience with grid connection, distribution and/or substation design
  • Understanding of DNSP/NSP connection processes and requirements
  • Experience with HV switchgear, transformers, protection, earthing and associated substation systems
  • Ability to develop and interpret single-line diagrams, schematics and electrical design documentation
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, PowerCAD or equivalent electrical design platforms
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and electrical industry requirements
  • Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills

Why RSGx?

You’ll join a team delivering critical electrical infrastructure at the forefront of Australia’s rapidly expanding data centre sector.

At RSGx, you’ll have the opportunity to work on large-scale grid connections, substations and mission-critical electrical systems, while collaborating with experienced engineers and project teams.

If you’re looking to take your electrical engineering career further into data centre power infrastructure, we’d like to hear from you. Apply now.
