POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for design of aviation test and ground support equipment and the respective tooling/mechanics associated with the equipment. This activity will include pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical design and analysis. Strong teamwork and communication skills are required to succeed as the mechanical design engineer will be required to collaborate with other engineers, manufacturing, quality, and vendors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but not limited to:
- Create mechanical designs, hydraulics schematics, and pneumatics schematics
- Participate in cross functional design reviews
- Create equipment layout drawings
- Create manufacturing drawings for parts and assemblies
- Support functional validation and demonstration of equipment and tools
- Create and maintain engineering records in support of quality systems
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Ability to analyze, challenge and change processes, as needed, to create a more efficient and more positive environment and culture
- Knowledge of:
- Mechanical Design
- Developing Concepts
- Stress/Load Calculations
- Rotating Components
- Splines
- Bearings
- Seals
- Gears
- Hydraulic Fitting Connections
- Sheet metal design
- In-depth understanding of machining techniques, processes and geometric tolerance
- Exceptional teamwork, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong foundation in PC skills; Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, databases, MRP/ERP systems (Visual ERP system knowledge a plus)
- CAD experience in SolidWorks modeling is essential
- US Persons Only due to ITAR requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. BSME preferred.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, design standards including GD&T
- Knowledge of, or experience with, manufacturing and quality processes
