BnM is seeking a Graduate Grid Engineer to support the Grid Team and the wider business in the planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning of electrical infrastructure for BnM projects. Working closely with the Senior Grid Engineer and multidisciplinary project teams, the successful candidate will contribute to the specification, design review, performance testing and delivery of grid-connected assets, while gaining valuable experience across a range of renewable energy and infrastructure projects.

The role also provides an opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Irish electrical grid, power systems and regulatory environment. Through practical project involvement and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will build the technical knowledge and experience required to support the successful delivery, optimisation and long-term performance of grid-connected projects, while contributing to the growth of BnM's renewable energy portfolio.


The Role

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Possess and apply functional knowledge of electrical engineering practices, principles, theories and concepts.
  • Support the development and delivery of project electrical engineering works and services.
  • Actively attend and participate in team, site and design meetings to support the successful delivery of projects on time, within budget and in compliance with statutory Health and Safety requirements. Provide oversight of construction work activities and prepare reports as required for the management team.
  • Support the development of engineering and optioneering assessments for potential grid connection solutions for renewable energy projects.
  • Prepare preliminary design drawings and technical reports, progressing to detailed design solutions for renewable energy projects.
  • Support the coordination of grid code testing processes and the preparation of reports in line with system operator standards.
  • Review and/or prepare technical project, tender and contract documentation.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on all elements of design, manufacture, processing, construction, operation and maintenance to support the delivery of BnM project requirements.
  • Support the development of in-house designs and tools to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of projects. Build, maintain and continuously develop knowledge of grid-related regulations and policies, ensuring changes are assessed for their impact on project delivery and communicated appropriately.
  • All employees are expected to co-operate fully with all provisions taken by the company for ensuring Health, Safety and Welfare of themselves, fellow employees and members of the public. Identify, understand and apply all Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements as a fundamental element of any construction design or undertaking ensuring safety of employees and members of the public during construction, testing, commissioning and operation.
  • Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team's objectives.


The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:

  • Honours Degree (Level 8 FETAC) in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
  • Postgraduate (Level 9 FETAC) qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Full clean Irish/EU driver's licence.
  • Prior industry experience, such as an internship in an electrical or power systems engineering environment.
  • Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to thoroughly review technical designs and documentation.
  • Experience in AutoCAD or similar technical design software.
