Role Description The Senior Fire Fighting & Plumbing (Mechanical) Design Engineer – Egypt will lead the design and coordination of fire protection and plumbing systems for building and infrastructure projects. This full-time, on-site role in Giza involves preparing detailed mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications in compliance with local and international codes and standards. The engineer will work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to integrate fire fighting and plumbing systems into overall project designs, review shop drawings and submittals, and provide technical support during construction. Daily tasks include attending coordination meetings, resolving design and site issues, conducting design reviews, and ensuring quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness in all mechanical design deliverables. The role also includes mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Qualifications

• Scope: Comprehensive design of fire fighting (NFPA/relevant codes) and plumbing/public health systems.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing design, pipe sizing, and system layout for building and infrastructure projects.
• Experience in maintenance & repair and preventive maintenance strategies for mechanical, fire fighting, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to provide effective customer service, including clear communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; professional registration or membership in a relevant engineering body is an advantage.
• Proven experience (senior level) in fire fighting and plumbing system design, including familiarity with NFPA, IPC, and relevant local codes.
• Proficiency in design tools and software such as AutoCAD, Revit or other BIM platforms, and mechanical calculation software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work on-site in Giza, collaborate in multidisciplinary teams, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Good command of written and spoken English; Arabic language skills are an asset.
• Experience: 7 to 10 years of solid consultancy design experience.
