Could you be the full-time Senior IXL Application Design Engineer in Bucharest we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your technical and analytical expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dynamic, adaptable, and forward-thinking teammates.

You'll perform design application activities related to interlocking for Central and East Europe projects, making a meaningful impact on the development of innovative rail solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as Project Managers, Technical Leads, and teams from other sites), contribute to the development of interlocking software modules, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of preparing and performing interlocking sub-system module tests, but also supporting hardware/software integration activities.

We’ll look to you for:

• Contributing to the elaboration of interlocking (IXL) sub-system specifications and architecture, in collaboration with the interlocking architect.
• Following the design tool chain and internal processes and standards.
• At least 3-5 years experience in relevant design positions using different programming languages (Ladder/relay logic).
• Knowledge of ladder ‑ logic and/or relay ‑ logic programming.
• Strong analytical, problem ‑ solving, and systems ‑ thinking abilities.
• Capability to translate operational needs into clear technical constraints.
• Ability to explain and discuss technical solutions with internal or external stakeholders when required.
• Ability to understand, implement, and adapt logic ‑ based control solutions.
• Capacity to generalize existing implementations and evaluate requirement coverage.
• Preparing and performing interlocking sub-system module tests and verifications (“Designer” tests).
• Supporting hardware/software integration with the hardware designer.
• Contributing to workload estimations for your deliverables.
• Driving continuous improvement through return of experience and process enhancement.

• University degree in Engineering (Transportation Systems, Electronics, Telecommunications, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent).

• Basic knowledge of railway signalling principles.
• Good analytical skills.
• Understanding and experience in software coding.
• Proficiency in English; Italian or French would be an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of ITC hardware architectures (client/server, workstation/blade, IP networking, routing, operating systems).
