Industrial Electrical Engineer – Waste-to-Energy Project

Location: Spring Hill, FL

Job Type: Contract – 6 Months to direct

About the Opportunity

Electrical Engineering Enterprises is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Engineer to support the electrical design and field execution of a waste-to-energy facility project in Spring Hill, FL. This position will focus on cable and conduit design, routing, installation oversight, and field coordination within a complex industrial power generation environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong industrial electrical design experience, a solid understanding of NEC requirements, and the ability to work closely with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams on an active project site.

Key Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and apply electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, and construction drawings.

• Design and lay out cable and conduit routing for power distribution, control, and instrumentation systems.

• Size conductors, conduit, and overcurrent protection in accordance with NEC and project specifications.

• Coordinate with engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure installations align with design requirements.

• Review and redline drawings based on field conditions, RFIs, and client feedback.

• Support cable tray and conduit layouts, cable pulling calculations, and voltage drop analysis for high-load industrial circuits.

• Conduct site walks to verify installation progress, identify conflicts, and support field execution.

• Prepare technical documentation, including bills of material, cable schedules, and installation specifications.

• Ensure electrical work complies with NEC, NFPA, project specifications, and applicable permitting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent hands-on industrial electrical experience.

• 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical design, preferably within power generation, waste-to-energy, or heavy industrial environments.

• Strong knowledge of NEC and industrial electrical wiring standards.

• Experience reading, reviewing, and marking up electrical drawings, one-lines, and P&IDs.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar electrical design software.

• Comfortable working on active construction sites and collaborating directly with field crews.

• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Experience

• Waste-to-energy, biomass, or power generation facility experience.

• Familiarity with hazardous location classifications, including Class I/II, Division 1/2.

• Experience with high- and medium-voltage cable installation.

• Knowledge of Florida permitting and inspection processes.
