Responsibilities
- Electrical Design and Product Development
- Design electrical systems for satellite ground segment equipment under the guidance of senior engineering staff.
- Assist in translating product requirements into clear electrical design requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineering teams.
- Support the product concept phase by evaluating technology options against product requirements.
- Perform electrical simulation, schematic design, and layout design for satellite and 5G ground equipment.
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews.
- Work with mechanical and compliance engineers to balance technical performance, cost, and product requirements.
- Collaborate closely with embedded software and firmware engineers during hardware bring-up.
- Partner with component vendors and technology suppliers to stay informed on product roadmaps.
- Contribute to design verification test plans.
- Execute verification testing and document test results.
- Support compliance engineers during regulatory testing.
- Work with supply chain and industrial engineering teams to source suitable components and support the transition from engineering to volume production.
- Provide technical support for field and maintenance issues on existing products.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design processes, best practices, and tools.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related subject area, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of electrical design experience in telecommunications equipment, satellite communications, 5G, or other wireless technologies.
- Project Lifecycle: Understanding of the life cycle of a hardware development project, including requirements collection, prototype design, validation, and hand-over to manufacturing.
- Simulation & Design: Hands-on electrical simulation and schematic design experience, preferably in the domain of telecom equipment or wireless technologies.
- Testing & Debugging: Experience testing and debugging high-speed digital and analog electrical systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Basic understanding of regulatory requirements and how to apply them to electrical designs.
- CAD Tools: Proficiency with electrical CAD tools, preferably Siemens or Mentor schematic tools.
- Teamwork: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-site, and multi-timezone team setup.
- Digital Hardware: Experience contributing to board-level digital hardware development across the product development life cycle.
- High-Speed Systems: Familiarity with high-speed digital systems, including embedded processors, DDR, and interfaces like PCIe or Gigabit Ethernet.
- FPGAs: Experience working with boards featuring FPGAs and interfacing with FPGA-based systems.
- Power Design: Experience with board power design, including DC/DC converters, LDOs, and basic power sequencing.
- DFx Principles: Understanding of design for cost, testability, and manufacturability (DFx).
- Bonus Assets: Experience with signal integrity analysis tools (e.g., HyperLynx), hybrid RF/digital PCB layout, contributing to ESA-funded projects, RF design experience or interest is desirable.
