Senior Digital Design Engineer

SENIOR DIGITAL DESIGN ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

We're currently recruiting for a Senior Digital Design Engineer to take a leading role in the development of complex digital hardware and semiconductor solutions.

The position is focused on digital design and RTL development, with responsibility for translating system requirements and architectural concepts into robust, efficient and scalable digital designs.

You will work across the development lifecycle, from architecture and specification through RTL implementation, verification and hardware validation. Working closely with digital, analogue, verification and systems engineers, you will contribute to technical decisions, solve complex design challenges and help drive projects through to successful implementation.

This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working on technically challenging digital designs while also taking ownership of projects and supporting less experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of complex digital hardware from specification and architecture through to implementation.
• Develop high-quality, synthesizable RTL using Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
• Translate system and architectural requirements into efficient digital designs.
• Take technical ownership of individual design blocks or complete digital development projects.
• Work closely with verification engineers to define verification strategies and resolve design issues.
• Support simulation, synthesis, timing analysis, debugging and hardware validation.
• Contribute to design reviews and architectural decisions.
• Identify and resolve complex issues at RTL, gate and hardware level.
• Collaborate with analogue, mixed-signal, FPGA and systems engineering teams.
• Support and mentor junior and mid-level digital design engineers.
• Contribute to improving digital design methodologies, coding standards and development processes.

Your Profile:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Several years of professional experience in digital hardware design and RTL development.
• Strong experience with Verilog and/or SystemVerilog.
• Solid understanding of digital design principles, synchronous design and RTL coding practices.
• Experience with ASIC, FPGA or SoC development.
• Good knowledge of simulation, synthesis and digital design verification methodologies.
• Experience working from system specifications and contributing to hardware architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable taking ownership of technically complex projects and working independently.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary hardware development teams.
