Project Engineer
Indexed description
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the engineering, design, and construction of utility-scale solar projects. This position will manage and coordinate third-party engineering contractors while working closely with internal project teams from early-stage development through construction and final commissioning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who combines strong technical knowledge with project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
Responsibilities
- Manage third-party engineering teams responsible for developing solar project designs.
- Support projects from initial concept and design development through construction and commissioning.
- Coordinate with project management, environmental, procurement, transmission, construction, and other engineering stakeholders.
- Review multidisciplinary engineering work involving electrical, civil, structural, mechanical, and materials considerations.
- Apply value-engineering principles to balance reliability, performance, constructability, and cost.
- Coordinate engineering schedules, deliverables, priorities, and project risks.
- Help resolve technical issues and drive engineering decisions throughout project execution.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Support schedule and budget management for major capital projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering required — Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
- Approximately 5+ years of engineering/project experience preferred; candidates with fewer years may be considered if their experience strongly aligns with the position.
- Utility-scale solar engineering and project management experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with commercial/distributed-generation solar or other power-generation and infrastructure technologies will also be considered, including wind, BESS/energy storage, combined-cycle generation, nuclear, hydrogen, substations, and transmission.
- Strong engineering candidates from adjacent industries such as aerospace, civil infrastructure, and stormwater may also be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and external contractors.
- Strong project management, leadership, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
Solar experience is preferred but not an absolute requirement. Candidates with strong project engineering experience in other complex power-generation, energy, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary engineering environments are encouraged to apply.
